The High Court will soon hear a case challenging the legality of the setting up and operations of the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption.

The High court registry in Suva confirms an application has been made by Suva lawyer Graham Leung who represented Abbas Ali in an official corruption case with former Assistant Police Commissioner Crime Josaia Rasiga.

Leung has challenged the legality of FICAC who are acting as prosecutors in this case.

They had made an application for the matter to be transferred from the Magistrates Court to the High Court to raise constitutional issues surrounding the legality of FICAC.

The matter will be heard by Judge John Byrnes on the 11th of this month.
