The National Federation Party strongly believes that Interim Finance Minister, Mahendra Chaudhry is not the right person to deal with land issues as Indigenous Fijians do not trust him anymore.
Party's General Secretary, Pramod Rae has advised Chaudhry not to touch land issues as he will only make landowners unhappy.
Rae added that Chaudhry was unsuccessful in solving land issues when he was the Prime Minister and he should have learnt a lesson from that.
Meanwhile, while speaking on a talkback show with Legend FM News, Chaudhry said consultations are being held with the stakeholders including the NLTB to resolve the long standing problem.
He said over the last 7 years, cane production has drastically dropped by 1 million tonnes and something needs to be done now.
