Leakage is a threat not only to the Tourism industry in Fiji but also to the Pacific.
These are the words of Interim Minister for Tourism, Bernadette Rounds Ganilau who says that leakage is not a new phenomenon following the address by the Samoan Prime Minister, Tui La'epa Sailele Malielegaoi to the Pacific Islands Leaders Forum.
Malielegaoi in his address to the pacific Leaders Forum said that the tourism industry benefited a diverse range of sectors and that the value of tourism is eroded by the leakage of the tourist dollar in pacific islands.
The now will see cleaners and unestablished staff employed in government departments face a slight deduction so that there is an average pay for all workers across the border.
