One of Fiji's leading retailers of retread tyres has started a workshop with government ministries in an attempt to save public funds.
Fiji Bandag general manager Lawrence Roberts said the company has brought in their advisor from Australia to talk to government personnel on the importance of having the right tyres, as in the end they will be able to save a lot of money.
Retread tyres are those that have a new rubber pasted over the old tyre casing, and are cheaper.
According to Roberts, the use of retread tyres will see government saving a lot when compared to buying brand new tyres.
The one day workshop which started this morning has seen representatives from various government ministries including Police and the RFMF.
