Fiji’s leading 7s rugby coach, Timoci Wainiqolo is backing Fiji’s most successful Rugby World Cup coach and former Wallaby, Ilivasi Tabua that players with the X-factor are missing in the current 7s team.

Wainiqolo who has guided the Wardens to win 4 tournaments in a row and collected $80,000 said that the other top teams have the edge against Fiji.

Best remembered in Hong Kong for scoring the try for Fiji’s 3rd in a year row win, Wainiqolo said that selecting the right players should always be the first priority of a coach especially the choice of play-maker.

Wainiqolo is happy with the inclusion of 4 of his players in the current training squad with Joji Ragamate, Ilai Tinai, Apisai Nayabo and Niko Verekauta.

These players are training at QEB with coach Alifereti Dere who will prepare the team to Hong Kong and Japan while assistant coach, Eddy Waqa prepares with the current team for Las Vegas this weekend.

The USA 7s is for 3 days and will start this Saturday at 12pm with Fiji taking on Argentina, at 2.56pm Fiji will face host USA and on Sunday at 9.06am Fiji will take on Canada.
