Ousted Prime Minister, Laisenia Qarase said there should be serious thinking amongst the leaders now to ensure that the Indian populations do not continue to feel unsafe in Fiji.

Qarase said everyone should ensure that we now have a stable political climate and ensure that people's rights are protected.

He said this is the only way to reduce the increasing outward migration of the Indians.

Meanwhile Qarase has also come out and said that there should be some serious thinking on the proposed One Man One Vote System in Fiji.

Qarase's comments comes after the outcome of the 2007 census, which has revealed a significant drop in the Indian population now standing at 37.6 percent of the total population compared to the significant increase in the Fijian population to 57.3 percent.

He said these issues now need to be analysed by the leaders of the country.
