Leaders are made not born.

These are the words of Fiji Human Rights Commission Director Dr Shaista Shameem at the opening of the National Youth Conference on Ethical Leadership at St Andrew's Parish yesterday.

Shameem addressing a group of 50 students from 17 different schools around the country said that leadership is one of those undefined qualities that people acquire as they go through life no matter a person's age.

The Conference on Ethical Leadership is an avenue for which youths get to give their versions of leadership, how it is perceived by them.

Organiser, Women's Action for Change Co-ordinator Noeleen Nabulivou, said it is important for youths to give their perspective on ethical leadership.
