Lawyers representing deported Fiji Sun Publisher, Russel Hunter have objected to the Proceedings Commissioner and Fiji Human Rights Commission Chair, Dr. Shaista Shameem acting as an Amicus in the case.

The application for leave to apply for Judicial Review was called in the High court where the objection was raised.

Doctor Shameem has applied to act as Amicus to provide the court with legal submissions on certain matters to assist in the hearing.

Judge Justice Thomas Hickie has adjourned the matter to November 12th for hearing on the objection and the leave to appeal where arguments will also be heard on leave to review the decision by the Permanent Secretary for Immigration to remove Hunter from the country in February this year.
