Two new lawyers who were today admitted to the Bar are very optimistic about practicing law saying Fiji's current political situation will not be a deterrent to the way they practice law.
At a morning tea hosted by the Fiji Law Society, lawyer Rileshni Karan of Suva said she will strive to be true to her profession.
Lawyer Ratu Josaia Waituruturu of Naigigi, Vanua Levu, said independence must be maintained by lawyers at all times.
Karan and Waituruturu were among 17 new lawyers admitted to the Bar.
Fiji Law Society President Dor Sami Naidu congratulated the 17 admittees saying that being a lawyer carries with it a lot of responsibility adding that the law is not just about acquiring wealth but also about getting skills and knowledge about the law and knowing when to apply it.
