Former Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of FNPF, Olota Rokovunisei's defense counsel will be meeting him tomorrow at Korovou Prison to discuss his appeal for conviction and sentencing.
Rokovunisei was sentenced to eleven months imprisonment by High court judge, Justice Priyantha Fernando this morning.
Justice Fernando while handing down the sentence told the court that Rokovunisei has breached the trust of his employer, FNPF and the public.
Justice Fernando said he has taken into consideration that Rokovunisei is 66 years old, has a long and respectable career and his ill health condition, however the judge said the charges are serious.
Justice Fernando said a term of 11 months imprisonment is to be served with effect from today.
Rokovunisei was found guilty of charges of extortion by a Public Officer and abuse of office.
