Suva lawyer Abhay Singh today appeared before the Independent Legal Services Commission facing separate charges of allegedly breaching the legal practitioner’s code of conduct.

This relates to where Singh was the lawyer of Narendra Prasad in a case of alleged murder and Singh is alleged to have abused his position of trust by placing pressure on Prasad to transfer a piece of land to him, in substitute for the remaining fees owed by Prasad.

The case proceeded this morning before John Connors who is the Chairman of the Commission.

Singh in defence told the Commission that no piece of land has been transferred to him and he did not sign any deals regarding the transfer of land.

Singh said he had excused himself from Prasad's case in the High Court and never forced his client to transfer the land to his name.

However, according to Singh if he would have represented Prasad in future than the transfer of land could have been used for the cost's which did not eventuate.
