State lawyer Adish Narayan is hoping that various issues of contention between the terminated members of the Great Council of Chiefs and the Interim Fijian Affairs Minister can be resolved through dialogue rather than through a court battle.

Speaking to Village News, Narayan said he is not aware that the terminated GCC members are planning to apply for a stay order later this week to reverse their terminations, as there were indications that the matter will be resolved through dialogue between the former GCC members and Ratu Epeli Ganilau. Narayan stresses that there are much wider legal issues to look into besides the termination of the members.

Lawyer representing former GCC chairman Ratu Ovini Bokini and others, Savenaca Komaisavai, confirmed that they plan to file the stay order later this week to ensure that the termination of the GCC members is reversed.

Interim Fijian Affairs Minister Ratu Epeli Ganilau is expected to consult the Attorney General's chambers today before commenting on the matter.
