The law and order situation is under control according to the Prime Minister.
Commodore Bainimarama has assured the business community, the municipal councils and the people that the Police Commissioner is ready to deal with any situation.
Meanwhile, cabinet today approved the change of the name of the Special Branch to the Fiji Police Intelligence Bureau.
Cabinet based its decision on a submission by the Defence Minister Ratu Epeli Ganilau.
Ratu Epeli said the special branch is an intelligence arm of the government that is administered by the Fiji Police Force.
He said the change in name will assist in changing the culture and mindset of the institution which would nicely flag the modernization of the division and the police force in totality.
Ratu Epeli added that the change is part of the strategic direction of strengthening the national intelligence capacity.
