Lautoka new CVC champs after thumping Ba
Lautoka in the final match of the series thrashed Ba by 7-0 today at Govind Park.
They needed four clear goals to finish in top place and did that in style.
Lautoka led 3-0 at the break with goals from Lorima Dau, Marika Madigi and Osea Vakatalesau.
In the second spell Apisai Smith scored the fourth goal while Vakatalesau added another two to his name and Jone Vono Junior was also on target for the sugar city side and the sugar must be tasting more sweet this afternoonin Lautoka.
Lautoka also featured in the CVC series in 2006 and 2009 but were unlucky on both occasions going down to Ba, but they were lucky third time around.
The win for Lautoka, has put Navua into second place in the series, who were hoping that Lautoka does not score more than four goals.
Lautoka apart from claiming the first prizemoney of $3,000 also received a trophy and gold medal while Navua received $1,000 and silver medal for finishing second.
This was also Ba's worst defeat at home and on Friday night they were beaten 3-0 by Navua.
After the win Lautoka soccer president Shalen Prasad said that his side deserved the victory.
Meanwhile, Navua soccer team director Ratu Ifereimi Buaserau said they may be taking the matter further to Oceania Football Confederation although it will be hard to prove that the match was a fix.
Final score in today's game was Lautoka 7-0 Ba.
