Laucala Bay Secondary School claimed the first gold medal in the Suva Zone Two Athletics meet yesterday although the competition officially starts today at the Post Fiji stadium.
The organizers decided to run the 3000 meters final yesterday to allow more time for other events to take place today.
Selina Keresia of Laucala Bay won the senior girls 3000 meters final while Nabua's Mereani Lokoloko settled for the silver medal.
Meanwhile Marist Brothers High School is confident of winning the meet today in the boys division. One of their gold medal prospect Iowane Dovumatua said his going to win the blue ribbon event.
A total 0f 109 Gold medals - 75 on track and 34 on field will at stake stake. The Suva Zone Two meet will start this morning at 9 at the Post Fiji stadium.
