Former All Black Sione Lauaki has denied damaging a closed circuit television camera in a taxi.

The 32 year old appeared in the Auckland District Court this morning and pleaded not guilty to a charge of willful damage.

Lauaki allegedly offended together with a policeman during an incident in the Auckland suburb of Epsom on the 13th of December.

The policeman was not on duty at the time of the incident.

Lauaki, a former Chiefs loose forward, ended his rugby career at French club Bayonne in 2012 after a routine medical assessment detected problems with his heart and kidneys.

He played 17 tests for the All Blacks, making his debut against Fiji in 2005.
