The Lau provincial council has fully supported the People's Charter and the GCC Regulations Promulgations 2008.
This was confirmed by the chairman Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba Mara in a press conference last night after the 2 days meeting ended.
Mara said the country needs to move forward as well as the Vanua of Lau.
Earlier today Mara warned members of the Council not to interfere with the Interim Government's work.
According to the reliable sources within the council meeting, Mara reminded the members of the council to give their full support to the Interim Government as he stated that at the end of the day, they will go back to the government for development assistance.
Meanwhile, the RFMF said there is nothing wrong with the Commanding Officer of the 3FIR Unit, Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba Mara being appointed as the Chairman of the Lau Provincial Council.
Military spokesperson, Major Neumi Leweni said the military also does not have any problems with Mara's appointment as it does not stop him from taking up the post under the Military Act. He also stresses that the military does not operate under the regulations of the Public Service Commission.
And the PSC Chairman is unaware on whether civil servants and military officers can take up the Chairman's post in the provincial council. According to Rishi Ram this has happened for the first time and legal opinion needs to be sought.
