Landslide closes off highway
Advisory Councilor Mohammed Arif Khan of Seaqaqa said about 50 vehicles are stranded on both sides of the road. He said people can use the old Sasa Naduri road to reach their respective destinations.
Motorists in the northern division have been called on by the Transport Ministry to take extra precaution while using the roads affected by flooding.
The Acting Director National Roads, Paula Baleilevuka said some roads are still closed to all traffic in Labasa and Savusavu as they are either still under water or closed due to landslides.
The roads closed due to flooding are Nayarabale Road, Urata Road, Waidamudamu Road, Naduna Road, Korotari Road, Namoli Road closed at Niudamu and Dakuniba Road in Savusavu closed at Nawi Village. The Tabia/Naduri Road is closed to all traffic at Vunibele school junction due to flooding while there is a landslide at Yalava Hill.
The roads closed due to the landslide include Nabauwalu Road and Kubulau Peninsula which has landslides at various places.
PWD workers are currently trying to clear up the roads.
