Following the Prime Minister's call for landowners to make full use of their resources, Fiji Pine officials are in Kadavu after a strong interest has been shown by landowners to harvest pine.
Fiji Pine Board Member Rupeni Silimaibau said following Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama's recent tours of Lomaiviti, Lau and Kadavu, government decided to advertise expressions of interest for those who could afford to log the pine, and the interest has been good.
Silimaibau said the team in Kadavu is visiting the many pine schemes.
Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama had stated in his visits around Fiji that Government wanted landowners to make full use of their resources to improve their standard of living.
Government is calling for expression of interest from suitable persons seeking to enter into agreement with government on behalf of the landowners for the harvesting of the pine plantations, to enter into an agreement for the harvest of pines in Kadavu, Lomaiviti and Lau.
