Sigatoka police are closely monitoring the Sanasana landowners after they forcefully stopped a company constructing a hotel in Cuvu from entering its site.

Assistant police spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri has confirmed that the villagers and landowners stopped the company employees and the executives from entering the site and carrying out their work.

Sokomuri said this is despite the fact that the company has a 99 year lease.

It is still unclear what the demands of the landowners are.

An urgent meeting has been called to discuss the issue.

Officials from the Lands Department, Sanasana landowners and senior officers from the Police Force will be in the meeting.
