The successful landing of the largest passenger carrier in the world, the Qantas Air Bus A380 at the Nadi International Airport this morning, has been hailed as another milestone for the aviation industry in Fiji.

Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji CEO Netava Waqa said an agreement was reached earlier that Fiji would be used as an Aerodrome for the Airbus in an emergency situation.

He said they are glad everything went smoothly and the large airliner was able to land without any problems.

Waqa added that this would also open huge opportunities for the tourism industry in Fiji.
