With the land rental subsidies set to increase from next Tuesday, the Committee on Better Utilization of Land has revealed that several expiring ALTA leases are expected to be renewed over the next few days.
Speaking to Fijivillage NLTB Deputy General Manager Meli Benuci confirms that reports received over the last two days indicate a positive response from landowners.
He said several leases which expired some years back are also expected to be renewed.
Earlier this year cabinet approved the criteria for the implementation of the rental subsidy to be paid by government to fund the increase of native land rental to 10% of Unimproved Capital Value and the interim government has dug out $8 million to meet the costs.
The new rent subsidies come into effect on July 1st.
