Sharks captain Bismarck du Plessis believes the return of Patrick Lambie for their clash with the Highlanders is a "massive lift" to their hopes.
Their Super Rugby qualifier in Durban sees the return of the fly-half after a spell out of the game due to a torn bicep suffered against the Bulls.
Du Plessis said they have a good squad, and in most positions they have depth.
He said they really have to be up for the challenge and really need to put their mark of authority over the Highlanders.
A further boost to the Sharks camp as wing, JP Pietersen should be cleared to play after a clash of heads at Newlands last week.
The Sharks and the Highlanders kick of their play-off match at 3.05am Sunday while the Brumbies will host the Chiefs at 9.40pm in the first play-off.
