England's Kiwi sevens star has missed out on the Rio Olympics.

Warwick Lahmert, born and raised on the Kapiti Coast, north of Wellington, switched allegiance to England in 2015 to revive an international sevens career which had stalled in New Zealand.

But despite being part of a 24‑man training squad for the Olympics, the 29‑year‑old has missed out on the Great Britain squad for Rio.

Instead, coach Simon Amor has selected four 15‑a‑side converts, including Scotland international Mark Bennett.

James Davies, Marcus Watson and Ollie Lindsay‑Hague have also made the grade.

Great Britain are in New Zealand's pool at the Olympics, alongside Kenya and Japan.

Team GB: Mark Bennett, Dan Bibby, Phil Burgess, Sam Cross, Alex Davis, James Davies, Ollie Lindsay‑Hague, Tom Mitchell, Dan Norton, James Rodwell, Mark Robertson, Marcus Watson.
