A 20-year-old farmer’s first trip to Suva has also earned him his first overseas trip with the Vodafone Fiji Under-20 rugby side.

Wilisoni Lagidrauna was in tears as he still tries to come to terms with his selection in the Vodafone Fiji Under-20 side for the Junior World Cup.

Speaking to our sister station VITI FM, Lagidrauna recalls the struggles he went through to help his family make ends meet as his mother was blind.

Lagidrauna left school in class six when his mum passed away.

The Naseakula farmer from Macuata is the youngest of seven siblings and he hopes to become a professional rugby player to support his family in the village.

Lagidrauna plays as a prop for the Naseakula Rugby Club and was spotted by the Fiji Rugby Union Development Officers in the North.

Meanwhile, the Vodafone Fiji Under-20 side was farewelled today by the staff of Vodafone Fiji and they were also presented with their official jerseys for the Junior Rugby World Cup.

The Junior Flying Fijians will play Wales on the 2nd of next month before taking on France on the 6th then Ireland on the 10th.
