The villagers of Lagalevu in Kadavu are preparing themselves for one of the worst destructions to have been caused by the strong winds from Tropical Cyclone Mick.
George O'Connor from Lagalevu said that most of the trees in the village have been uprooted as the wind is slowly dying down.
Meanwhile, the Southern Lau group is also experiencing heavy rain and strong winds.
Temo, who is the Post Master in Naroi village Moala, said trees are being uprooted as the strong winds take its toll.
The village of Yaroi in Matuku is also experiencing very strong winds and rain.
Noa Yavala from the village of Yaroi, who resides on the premises of Yaroi Primary School, said that the villagers have been woken up by the sound of the waves pounding the reefs.
Yavala added it is very dark and they cannot see the destruction being caused by the strong winds, but has heard some corrugated iron being blown away.
