The lack of interest from Sevens rugby teams in the country could force the Nawaka Sevens this weekend in Nadi to be cancelled.

Fijivillage has received confirmation that the proposed two day tournament still does not have the required number of teams that should make up the tournament.

A total of 64 teams were expected to play in the Nawaka Sevens but only 20 have shown interest.

Meanwhile, entries for the Fiji Bitter Marist Sevens is expected to close this Wednesday.

64 teams are to take part in the Marist Sevens and the Fiji Sevens squad to Hong Kong will be named after the final.

The 20 member Fiji Sevens team that will march into camp on Wednesday will play as Fiji Warriors in this tournament where coach Alifereti Dere is expected to build his combination ahead of the Hong Kong Sevens.

The Marist Sevens is scheduled for next Friday and Saturday.
