Lack of food within homes in Fiji has become a concern for many parents, teachers and children.
These are the words of Foundation for the Education of Needy Children in Fiji National coordinator, Irshad Ali who said a study carried out by FENC Fiji shows that lack of food is one of the reasons why many children failed to attend school.
Ali told Fijivillage that during their study volunteers came across a case where a child at a school in Nasinu was absent for 37 days during the first term of school this year because of poor family condition and lack of food.
Ali said this is disturbing.
He said more needs to be done.
Meanwhile, FENC Fiji has paid over 40,000 dollars in school levies for 812 children in Fiji and has supplied over 100,000 worth of stationery, sandals and uniforms to children.
