Gone is the generation that used to look after people with disabilities from the heart.
Those were the words of Fiji National Council for Disabled Persons Director Dr Sitiveni Yanuyanutawa who said there is a concern nowadays about the lack of care giving skills as most relatives of disabled people end up kicking their relatives out of their homes as they do not know how to deal with the situation.
He said this is why they have a plan in place for a proper residence for disabled people who have nowhere to go.
He said proper training is needed for caregivers as there are also plans to provide shelter for those people who have been neglected by their loved ones.
