As demolition works started at the Raiwaqa flats yesterday, it has been revealed today that all construction plans for the new proposed flats is on hold due to lack of funding.

Public Rental Board General Manager Mesake Senibulu said the demolition work is expected to take sixteen weeks and the Board is looking at avenues to secure funds for the project.

Senibulu said at the moment they haven't finalized any plans for the new flats as they are looking at the option of trying to secure some funds from the Chinese soft loan first.

Senibulu said the rental of the new flats will cost more as the prices of building materials have gone up.
