For the first time ever, the Labasa women’s soccer team has won the 2012 Bargain Box Women’s Inter District Championship.

In the 10 year history of the women’s IDC, only Ba and Suva have won the event.

Reaching their third consecutive final, Labasa scored a second half goal through Sofi Diyalowai securing a 1-0 victory over Lautoka at Govind Park yesterday.

A prize money of $1,000 has been received by Labasa with Lautoka walking away with $500.

Earlier in the semifinals, host Ba lost to Labasa 2-0, while Lautoka defeated Rewa by the same margin.

The two losing semifinalists received $250 each.

Fiji Football Association president Rajesh Patel has praised the players for their efforts and has been pleased with what he has seen.
