The 42-year-old school teacher who allegedly picked up an 18-year-old female student and refused to stop at the girl’s house in Soasoa, Labasa earlier this week has been indefinitely suspended.
Education Minister Dr. Mahendra Reddy has confirmed this to Fijivillage saying they will take further action once they receive a report from the Fiji Police Force.
It is alleged that the teacher tried to persuade her to go with him for a 10 minute ride.
Police say the student managed to jump out of the vehicle and received injuries.
The student was taken to the hospital by another vehicle driver who felt that the teacher was acting in a suspicious manner.
The teacher has since been interviewed and released.
The student who was admitted at the Labasa Hospital with neck, back and hand injuries has been discharged as Police investigations continue.
