A 48 year old man of Labasa who is alleged to have raped his de-facto wife last week pleaded not guilty to the charges in the Labasa Magistrate’s Court today.

The man who is facing two counts of rape has been released on $500 cash bail and told to stay at home between 6pm and 6am daily.

The court also ordered him to stay 500 meters away from the victim and report to Labasa Police Station every Saturday.

He has also been told to surrender all his travel documents to police.

The matter has been adjourned to the 4th of February next year for mention.

It is alleged that the man raped his de-facto wife after they had an argument during a drinking party at their home last week.

According to police, the man was living with his wife and the victim in the same house.
