A 58 year old man of Kelikoso, Labasa, is in police custody for allegedly assaulting his 28 year old daughter-in-law.
Assistant police spokesperson Sergeant Suliano Tevita has confirmed that the alleged incident took place after an argument.
It is alleged that the man assaulted his daughter-in-law with a stick.
She sustained serious injuries and was taken to the Labasa hospital where she is admitted.
The man is expected to be charged later today.
