Every year, we see families struggling to make ends meet and sugarcane farmers having their future destroyed when they are forced to evict their farms.
Labasa Sangam High School, who are one of the 18 schools taking part in the 2009 TFL Kula Film Awards, say this year they wanted to show the public the real story behind expiry of land leases.
Film Co-ordinator, Subash Chand said the 10 students chose their theme, "Shattered Dreams" after seeing many of their school colleagues struggling to pay their fees or even attend school.
The winner from the 18 schools is expected to be known early next month.
