Hundreds of residents of Labasa are facing frequent water cuts from last week.

Areas affected are Naseakula, Wailevu, Delailabasa and other nearby areas. Residents said lack of water supply is making it difficult for them to prepare family meals, for bathing, washing clothes and dishes and also to use flush toilets.

Residents are frustrated as authorities have not been able to solve the problem and the carting of water is also not done.

Meanwhile, water supply officials confirm this problem has been caused due to breaking down of a pump in Nakama which was caused by power disruption. Officials say they have brought in a new pump from Suva yesterday and the water cuts are expected to be normalized by today.
