Labasa Mayor Dr Pradeep Singh has confirmed that he has highlighted a number of problems faced by people and businessmen in the northern division to Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama yesterday.
Singh said Commodore Bainimarama has assured them that the interim government has plans to revive the economy in the north.
Dr. Singh said they have also requested the interim government to declare Malau as a port of entry to boost the northern economy.
Commodore Bainimarama is currently touring the northern division and is now on his way to Savusavu to tour the Hot Springs Hotel to see the Pearl Farm this hour and visit the Copra mills at around 3pm.
Earlier today he visited the Coconut Oil processing plant in Labasa and the Seaqaqa research station.
Savusavu Mayor Peni Naulu is expected to host a dinner for the Interim PM today.
