Labasa Police, who conducted major drug raid three days ago, confiscated a large amount of dried leaves believed to be marijuana from a goods delivery truck in Seaqaqa.

Police Spokesperson, Atunaisa Sokomuri confirmed Police received a tip that marijuana leaves were allegedly been transported to Northern Division using the 10 wheeler truck.

A group of Police Officers stopped the truck in Seaqaqa and searched all its compartments.

The officers found an in-built compartment under the truck which had plastic bags filled with dried leaves.

According to Sokomuri, Police Operations in the North have been a success and fewer people are found planting marijuana plants now and as a result marijuana leaves are now allegedly transported from Viti Levu.

The driver of the truck is still being questioned and the dried leaves have been sent to the Koronivia Research station for examination.

Police are now trying to determine the value of the marijuana leaves.
