Labasa Families Stuck in Homes
Resident Ram Naresh confirmed close to 36 families are stuck in their homes and they have had nothing to eat from yesterday.
Naresh said these families are unable to make their way to town as flood waters have surrounded their homes.
Residents of Cogeloa and other areas outside Labasa have called on DISMAC and other authorities to provide emergency food supply in their area as many people have lost all their belongings in flood waters.
Resident Mohammed Tazir Subedar said they are stuck in their homes due to flood waters and cannot go to town to do their shopping.
Police spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri who is in Labasa said if rain continues, flood waters will rise and reiterated people must not be complacent and take heed of warnings.
Sokumuri also raised concern about passengers at Nabouwalu who were stranded and have been billeted at an evacuation centre.
