The Vodafone Labasa soccer side has registered their first win the 2008 FMF/Blue Gas Battle of the Giants soccer tournament today.
The Babasiga Lions now have three points after beating Nasinu 3-0 at Subrail Park. Defender Samuela Kautoga scored twice in the second spell while towards the end of the match, Roy Krishna put the final nail into Nasinu's coffin.
Labasa soccer technical adviser, Anand Sami was satisfied with the win but said more work is needed in the next few days, when the tournament officially gets underway at the National Stadium next week.
Meanwhile the other first round matches in the FMF/Blue Gas Battle of the Giants will be played tonight and tomorrow. Lautoka will take on Nadroga today at 7pm at Churchill Park while Rewa plays Nadi tomorrow at Ratu Cakobau Park and Navua hosts Tavua at Thompson Park.
