The Land Transport Authority will seek financial assistance from government to mount red light and street cameras around the country soon.
LTA spokesperson Ratu Eroni Volavola confirmed government has given the go ahead for cameras to be put on streets however they are working on legislations.
He said many traffic and other offenders will be caught following the mounting of these cameras.
Meanwhile, the National Road Safety Council, Assistant Director, Timoci Satakala said Police and the LTA should enforce harsher penalties against those pedestrians who are caught breaking road rules as they too are often responsible for accidents.
