The Land Transport Authority will now limit the number of permits issued to operators to reflect a fair distribution of wealth as enshrined under the Peoples Charter for Change, Peace and Progress.

The LTA chief executive officer, Naisa Tuinaceva said that the authority wants to develop and have a support system and this means that operators applying for four permits would only receive two.

He said some taxi operators have 20-30 permits and although nothing is stopping a person under the law to apply for a certain number as long as he legally qualifies, but under the fair distribution of wealth everyone will now get a fair share of the cake.

Tuinaceva said that by doing this LTA will play a positive role in the socio economic development of the nation.
