A number of Land Transport Authority officials have been taken in for questioning by police in relation to alleged illegal mini bus operations in the country.

The Ministry of Transport said all they can confirm is that they were briefed yesterday regarding the investigations into the audit report at LTA which involved illegal mini bus operations.

The Ministry said a number of suspects were identified and taken for questioning and referred all further queries to the Permanent Secretary for Information Lt. Colonel Neumi Leweni.

When contacted, Lt. Colonel Leweni said they will not comment on on-going investigations against public servants or those from statutory bodies until investigations are complete.

Late last month, LTA CEO Etuate Koroi was sent on leave pending investigations by the Transport Minister into an internal audit report on the operations and revenue measures of the LTA.

The Major Crimes Unit from the CID Headquarters is investigating the matter.

Police Spokesperson Ema Mua is yet to comment.
