The Land Transport Authority has awarded a $150 000 tender to Auditors G Lal and Company to carry out investigations in alleged corrupt practices by their officials.
Transport Ministry Spokesperson, Sainiana Waqainabete said the Government has finished their internal investigations and will now require the public’s assistance.
Waqainabete said this came to light after 2 LTA officials were fired last year for accepting money from drivers who were fined.
G Lal and Company will be looking into allegations of illegal issuing of drivers license cards via the registration and licensing system and the illegal cancellation or deleting and reduction of traffic infringement notices - fines and penalties in the computerized registration and licensing system.
