The Land Transport Authority will continue to monitor buses after an incident in Tabia, Labasa yesterday where a fire started from the bus engine.
Close to 30 passengers escaped unhurt when a former bus driver assisted the bus driver to put the fire out using a fire extinguisher. The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage.
Meanwhile, LTA Chief Executive Etuate Koroi has stressed that periodic checks on buses are necessary.
