Our checks are continuing and alterations will be made to buses to ensure passengers are safe.

Chief Executive Officer of the Lands Transport Authority Etuate Koroi said the authority is still continuing with its checks on buses to ensure they are complying with the new regulations.

Koroi said the issue of widening the glass windows on buses is one issue that the authority is carefully monitoring, to ensure that there isn't a repeat of the tragic bus fire in Malaqereqere, Sigatoka, which claimed the lives of twelve people.

The Authority has decided that all glass window buses will have to remove the stoppages, to ensure that they open wider so they can be used as an exit in case of emergencies.

Koroi said his officers are currently carrying out the checks all over the country.
