The Land Transport Authority has adopted a new way of checking that buses are complying with the new safety regulations which have been implemented recently.
Chief Executive Etuate Koroi said instead of carrying out the checks at bus depots, they are now carrying out random checks at different bus stations.
Koroi said the reason for this new method is because when his officials visit bus depots, most of the buses are not there.
The LTA decided to implement new safety measures in buses to ensure there isn't a repeat of the tragic bus fire of Malaqereqere, Sigatoka, which claimed the lives of twelve people.
