Strike action by employees of the Lautoka city Council has been averted after an agreement was reached between the council and the union.
Speaking to Legend this afternoon Lautoka Mayor Rohit Kumar confirmed that the Council has agreed to meet all the demands from members of the Fiji Local Government Officers Association.
Association President Rohit Singh said they are glad the matter has been resolved and they have taken into account the Councils financial status and given them time until December to pay.
The Union had threatened to go on strike tomorrow if their demand for a pay increment for its members, as per an agreement with the Council was not adhered to.
