Fiji born striker, Roy Krishna will become the first Fijian to play in the A-League soccer competition which began in 2004.

Krishna has signed a professional football contract with the New Zealand based A-League club Wellington Phoenix.

According to the Fiji Football Association, it is believed that the 26 year old's performance at the FIFA Club World Cup in Morocco late last year was instrumental for the New Zealand based A-League club Wellington Phoenix to sign him.

Fiji FA President Rajesh Patel said this is a major achievement for Roy and football in Fiji.
