The Interim Works Minister, Manu Korovulavula is expected to discuss the contingency plans with ministry officials later today as members of the Public Employees Union get ready to go on strike from tomorrow.

Korovulavula has refused to reveal details of his contingency plans.

Members of the Union are employees of the PWD who are responsible for the maintenance of roads and bridges around the country.

Meanwhile, Senior Roads Engineer, Apisai Ketena-lagi has confirmed that there will be people available at depots around the country from tomorrow morning who will ensure services are not affected when the strike starts.

He said they cannot predict at the moment how many PWD workers will be on strike from tomorrow and they are closely monitoring the situation.
